Artifical Grass - Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any long-term effect from the sun – will the sun harm the synthetic grass or make it fade?

  • Our fibres have a UV protection coating and can withstand the damaging effects of sun, heat, wind, snow and ice.

What is the life expectancy of this product?

  • All of our synthetic grass products come with a minimum limited 5-year warranty; actual life expectancy is 10-15 years.

What type of maintenance should I expect?

  • An occasional brooming is recommended but not necessary. This will stand the fibres back up. Most customers leave the grass in its "flatter" position as this is more like real grass. Debris such as leaves and twigs can be easily removed with a leaf blower.

Can Perfect Grass be installed over my existing lawn?

  • No. The existing turf must first be removed either by spraying or removed with a turf-cutter. We prepare the ground using 3 different aggregates to obtain the highest quality smoothed finish. Consisting of Type 1, Granite dust and sharp sand before the artificial turf is installed.

How does drainage work with your artificial grass?

  • The drainage is very similar to pavers. water drains off the artificial grass surface into a drain or graden bed. The artificial grass backing also has many perforated holes allowing for water to drain vertically.

Can pets harm my artificial grass?

  • Dogs find artificial grass soft and enjoyable to run around on and will readily 'do their business' on it. However being permeable, any urine/wee will drain through the surface and any faeces/poo can be removed easily. The fake grass fibres will take no harm from this. The garden will not suffer from the effects of dog urine/faeces and will be the same, luscious green all year round, offering a safe and clean environment for you, your dog and your family to enjoy.

Is there any long term effect from the sun - will the sun harm the synthetic grass or make it fade?

  • Our fibres have a UV protection coating and can wothstand the damaging effects of sun, heat, wind, snow and ice.

How does the cost of artificial grass compare to natural lawn?

  • When compared with installing a sprinkler system, top soil, and the price of turf, combined with watering, mowing, weeding, fertilising, Perfect Grass* artificial grass will pay for itself in a few years. You can maximise your investment if you include low-maintenance solutions such as pebbles or paving with your synthetic grass. The contrast of these solutions with our grass looks fantastic!

My Garden is very boggy and i'm concerned about the drainage if I install artificial grass. What is the solution?

  • It is important to find out how well the area will drain. To do this we recommend removing the top surface and digging a inspection hole of approximately (w)30x(L)30x(D)50cm and filling with water, to observe drainage. If the drainage is unsatisfactory we would recommend that suitable soakaways are put in place before any further work takes place.
